Stephen Zammit is a dedicated professional who has recently joined New Horizons as the General Manager of Clinical Excellence & Governance, starting in October 2023. With a strong belief that everyone deserves to live their best life, Stephen has committed his career to the mental health sector to help individuals achieve their goals.

Stephen’s academic background is notable; he is a Registered Psychologist and holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science. His career began in clinical practice, where he developed a keen interest in measuring the impact of his work. This desire for evidence-based results propelled him into managerial roles, where he focused on the importance of training, supervision, and practice guidance for professionals in the field.

As he transitioned into clinical governance, Stephen applied his skills to establish policies and procedures that promote quality practices across broader service areas. He enhanced this capacity by becoming a registered clinical supervisor with AHPRA, thereby contributing to the foundational training of emerging clinicians.

Stephen’s journey then led him to program evaluation, where he specialized in service model design and the development of measurable outcomes, ensuring that programs remained effective and aligned with clients’ aspirations. His computer science expertise further enabled him to optimize the tools used within services, ultimately enhancing program-level outcomes.

Stephen was drawn to New Horizons by its passion, creativity, and innovative spirit. He hopes to leverage his experiences and insights to enrich the organization’s services and empower customers in their personal journeys.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Stephen embraces the joys and challenges of parenthood. He humorously describes living in a constant state of déjà vu, often picking up toys and clutter left by his children. Despite the chaos, he celebrates their small successes toward independence, holding onto the hope that one day his home will achieve a state of cleanliness that lasts more than a day.
