Phil Grindley

Phil Grindley is the General Manager of Enterprise Risk & Business Assurance at New Horizons, a role he began in May 2024. With a diverse background in financial services and a strong commitment to social impact, Phil has dedicated his career to balancing professional excellence with humanitarian efforts.

Phil’s early career was spent at PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the Big Four chartered accounting firms, where he honed his skills in accounting and risk management. His passion for helping others was ignited during a transformative two-year volunteer experience in Mozambique, where he worked with orphans. This experience deepened his resolve to pivot away from traditional financial services to focus on making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Following his return from Mozambique at the end of 2017, Phil re-entered the financial services sector before making a significant career shift to social services with Wesley Mission. This role allowed him to apply his expertise in corporate governance and risk management to support vulnerable communities.

Phil holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Master in Legal Studies, and a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Governance. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Company Secretary, further demonstrating his commitment to professionalism and ethical governance. Additionally, Phil serves as a Justice of the Peace, providing document certification services as an extension of his community engagement.

In his personal life, Phil is an avid runner. This passion was cultivated during his time in Africa, where he needed to maintain his fitness to keep up with the energy of 25 teenage boys for whom he was a dorm parent. This love for running continues to inspire his active lifestyle today, reflecting his dedication to health and well-being.
